200th anniversary of Bolivia’s Independence

Thursday August 7th, 2025

This month, Bolivia commemorates the 200th anniversary of its independence, the “Bicentenario”. The Village Foundation takes part in the celebrations, each of its 3 locations. In Yanacachi, our historical headquarters, we inaugurated a new billboard greeting our visitors at the village entrance. It highlights the ancient role of Yanacachi as the “Gateway to the Yungas Region of La Paz”. Our Tarija Office, coordinating the weekly boarding with indigenous families in the Department, offered a reception for representatives of countries and the university we work with. Here, our 200-years-billboard features the girls of the Guaraní People in their colourful traditional dresses, whom we help to continue schooling through our weekly boarding in the Chaco Region.

In El Alto, the team of our women’s project, inaugurating the 2nd semester of 2025, presented a an artwork uniting 200 of the project participants to form the shape of Bolivia, “land of the brave and strong women”. All joined in saying: Cheers to Bolivia!

The colourful girls of the Guaraní People, too, greet their Bolivia
