Our Women’s Project in the City goes Up-Country
Sunday June 29th, 2025

Women who have migrated from the countryside in search for better living conditions are the target group of our Women’s Project in El Alto, the big migrant city bordering La Paz. At times, however, our project team moves up-country as well. In June, it could celebrate the successful conclusion of a tailor course requested by the association of peasant women “Bartlina Sisa” in our home county of Yanacachi. Happy to have learned something new and useful, lots of smiling faces where to be seen when the final certificates were handed out. Female self-esteem and protection against violence have been course issues, too, however. To that end, the project’s psychologist and legal advisor also made their way to the countryside, providing practical advice with very specific problems faced by the women. Thus, the project could live up to its aspiration to provide integrated help to women.
